Search and book hotel rooms in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has the longest Baltic coastline in Germany and a thousand lakes behind it. The season is short and sharp: June to September is full and expensive, the rest of the year nearly empty. Rügen is the largest island in the country. Binz is its main resort, all white seaside architecture, with the chalk cliffs of Jasmund national park next door; Sellin has the best known pier on the coast. On the mainland two Hanseatic towns with World Heritage old towns sit side by side: Stralsund opposite Rügen and Wismar further west. Rostock is the largest city and the ferry port for Scandinavia. Schwerin lies inland around its palace on an island, itself inscribed by UNESCO in 2024. The Mecklenburg Lake District starts at Waren on the Müritz, the largest lake entirely inside Germany - canoeing and sailing country rather than beaches.
